Nayo Almighty backpack review
About Nayo Smart
NayoSmart focuses on backpacks and backpacks only. Because of this, they’ve really honed their craft. Their designs have a three-pronged approach: comfort, capacity, and style.
One of their aims as a brand is to help travelers seamlessly blend into whatever environment they are moving through. We all know the feeling of sticking out like a sore thumb on a trendy city street, laden with luggage and head to toe in walking gear. The holy grail is to be the invisible traveler, fully prepared for any number of activities, but with the air of fitting in.
NayoSmart is all about minimalist esthetic paired with functionality. They recognize that most of us won’t fork out for several different backpacks for different occasions. They aim to combine everything we need into one versatile multipurpose travel tool.
Their backpacks are intuitively designed and capacious with a contemporary style. Lots of disguised padding to maximize comfort, and a high-density exterior for extreme durability.
Specifications
The NayoSmart Almighty comes in two different sizes: large and normal.
The volume of the large one is 32 liters versus 25 liters for the normal one.
The large one weighs 1.5 kg while the normal one weighs 1.2 kg.
In terms of dimensions, the large one measures 51 L x 17 W x 35 H cm and fits a 17.3” laptop while the normal one measures 46 L x 16 W x 32 H cm and fits a 15.6” laptop
The Almighty is waterproof thanks to its polyurethane coating and durable thanks to its high-density 600d polyester outer material. The 12mm EVA molded padding on the straps and the back ensure comfortable carrying.
The SBS reverse zippers are both sturdy and water-resistant and special attention goes to the U-zip which allows the backpack to open into two halves for easy access.
In total, the NayoSmart Almighty has over 20 pockets.
Features
The organization of the interior pockets of the Nayo Almighty has been really well thought through. The main compartment zips open down the middle into two sides which means you can see everything you’ve packed at a glance.
One side is for gadgetry and kit, with multiple pockets of varied sizes (including an internal laptop layer and tablet layer, secured with elastic straps). The other side is designed for clothes and is separated by a thin mesh fabric to keep everything tidy.
There’s an insulated side pocket for a water bottle or thermos flask, as well as an open external bottle slot. The straps have small side pockets as well which are great for little things like gum or an emergency credit card.
There’s also a secret pocket on the lower back of the backpack – useful for things you want to keep out of reach of wandering hands like your passport or travel documents.
The external material is sleek and smooth to the touch. The high-density polyester is very waterproof – much more so than the nylon you get on more premium bags. However, it isn’t quite as resistant to wear and tear as the higher quality nylon, so it could show snags and tears more easily. Only time will tell.
The straps are really well padded and comfortable. There’s also an adjustable sternum strap for support. The back has a breathable mesh that helps prevent it from getting too hot and sweaty against your body, and a strap for slipping over the top of suitcase handles if needed.
There’s a smooth solid-metal carry handle at the top that is comfortable in the hand. Zippers are reverse coil and durable and have large eyelets for fitting a padlock if needed.
Some cute little extra features: one strap even includes a small whistle for emergencies, and the bag also comes with two matching detachable toiletry or accessory cases. There’s also a side pocket for your power bank. This has a built-in external USB port, which makes keeping your phone charged on the move a piece of cake. One strap has a small elastic strip for hooking in your sunglasses.
Style
The Nayo Almighty has definitely been designed with style in mind. The overall aesthetic is a contemporary minimalist box-like design in a dark khaki-gray color.
Despite being a highly functional travel bag, it strikes a miraculous balance between professional and casual, meaning you can use it basically anywhere. Frankly, it would be just as acceptable to use in a corporate boardroom as it would on a mountainous hike!
The material itself is thick and plush – there’s no doubt from its appearance that this is a high-quality bag.
One thing that makes it an attractive bag is that in spite of its many pockets (over 20 in total!) it’s not covered in obvious external compartments. They are subtle and disguised, giving the bag a stylish and neat shape.
Who is it for?
With the Nayo Almighty, Nayo Smart is targeting the modern kind of traveler, one that likes to blend into their surroundings and not look like a tourist. They have aimed to create a versatile bag that could be used in a number of places or situations, for day-to-day use or for trips of up to perhaps seven days.
It’s also clearly designed for someone who travels with lots of electronic devices and gadgetry. With its separate compartments for laptop, tablet, and power bank, it really allows for a contained and tidy place to keep cables and delicate items.
If you like to travel light, it's the perfect small carry-on bag.
