When I traveled to Dresden, Germany in February, I was struck by the difference between the clean, but a bit fake-feeling Altstadt and Neustadt, clearly a place where people live and a lot of things are happening. Altstadt may have the reconstructed buildings and more museums, Neustadt has a touristic attraction of its own: its street art.
I was amazed at how street art was just everywhere in Neustadt. It was present in other places in the city as well, but in Neustadt no street was without art. I snapped graffiti, stencils and more while I wandered around and visited the places I’d planned on visiting, but the last morning I was there I headed out with only one goal: capturing the street art of Neustadt.
This is the result.
Street art in Dresden Neustadt
One of the most famous street art spots in Dresden Neustadt is Kunsthofpassage. If you want to know more about this place, I suggest you read this post by Travel Notes and Beyond.
Where to stay in Dresden Neustadt?
I spent three nights at Hostel Lollis Homestay in Dresden Neustadt. I didn’t stay at the hostel itself, but in their apartment down the street.
This apartment has a cozy living room, a big and fully equipped kitchen, a large bathroom with toilet and a bedroom with three bunk beds (so to sleep 6 people). There’s free wi-fi and a computer to use if you don’t have a laptop with you. When you stay at the apartment you can also join the other guests for a free dinner on Sunday evening.
If you’d rather not stay at a hostel or are looking for something in Altstadt, you might want to check Booking.com for an extensive list of options for all budgets and needs.
If you’re looking for an apartment rather than a hotel, I would recommend checking airbnb. Sign up through my link and get a discount on your first stay!
