Today I’d like to share a video with you that I made (well, co-created, as I hired someone to do the animation) quite a while ago already. It explains the language and political structure of Belgium. I normally don’t talk about these things on the blog and I don’t intend to do so in the future either, but whenever I meet someone abroad and tell them I’m from Belgium, their next question usually is whether I speak French or Dutch, sometimes followed whether we have a functioning government now.
Our country is, unfortunately often in a negative way, known for its complicated language and political system and so I thought a video explaining these things could be interesting for anyone visiting the country who wants to know just a bit more than where to find the best chocolate (do keep that your priority, though).
I’ve also put this video up on the Belgium page, where it will stay for easy reference.
(You can also watch this video directly on YouTube)
I hope you found this useful, but if you’re still clueless as to how Belgium manages to keep on functioning, don’t worry: most of us don’t understand it either.
