Hi, I’m Harry Anapliotis, the owner of Wonderful Wanderings. I took over this site to help people plan their dream trips and see the world on any budget. Travel has been my passion ever since I took my first trip to Barcelona after college. During that trip, I learned how to stretch my budget further and have deeper travel experiences. I was amazed and hooked!
Over the years, I’ve now been to 28 countries across 3 continents. I’ve stayed in hostels, camped in national parks, backpacked through jungles, and learned so much about different cultures.

The editorial team of Wonderful Wanderings brings together travel experts with backgrounds in travel writing, web development and digital marketing. The team, through their collaborative effort, provides readers with relevant travel experiences and up-to-date digital content. Harry Anapliotis is a travel writer and web developer with extensive experience in travel writing, travel product design, car rental product design, full stack web development and digital marketing. Harry Anapliotis is the CEO and owner of Wonderful Wanderings since August 2023. He is based in Crete, Greece, and he has collaborated with numerous travel agencies, car rental companies and online platforms to deliver exceptional user experiences. Harry Anapliotis is also the owner of Rental Center Crete, a local car rental company in Crete.

Sofie Couwenbergh
Sofie Couwenbergh has been a professional travel writer for 10+ years. She speaks at international conferences and has been featured as a travel expert in print and online publications. Her writing and social media content reaches over 140,000 people every month. Sofie is the founder of Wonderful Wanderings since 2012. She was the CEO of Wonderful Wanderings until 2023, where she passed the management of the blog to Harry Anapliotis.
Paul Frew
Paul Frew has been a professional writer for over ten years. While he’s based in Australia, Paul jumps at the opportunity to travel any chance he gets. In addition to exploring his home country, he’s ventured to Japan, Canada, Hungary, Germany, England and several cities across the USA.
Susan Wisby
Sarah is a slow traveler and professional travel writer who contributes to both online and print publications such as Wizz Air Magazine and Vegan Life. Having lived in London, Hong Kong, South America, and Spain, these days you’ll find her writing, catching waves in the Atlantic, and leading yoga retreats in the Canary Islands.

Wonderful Wanderings is a travel blog and web portal. Wonderful Wanderings writes travel guides, “things to do” guides, itineraries, attractions and landmark reviews, travel planning tips, vacation stories and travel gear reviews for people who want to travel around the world. Wonderful Wanderings launched in 2012 by Sofie Couwenbergh. It was a place to share the best budget travel tips and stories from the road. Over the years, it has grown into a valuable resource for travelers looking to explore the world in an affordable, adventurous way.
We share photos, travel guides, advice, videos and stories from our trips in the blog section. Our goal is to provide inspiration as much as practical information!

Who is the story of Wonderful Wanderings?
Wonderful Wanderings was founded in 2012 by Sofie Couwenbergh. Sofie was dissatisfied with her job as marketing coordinator and copywriter so she decided to combine her love for writing and passion for travel into a blog.
What was initially meant as a creative outlet soon drew the attention of readers from all over the world – and so the dream was born: to turn Wonderful Wanderings into a professional travel blog.
Since then, Sofie has been featured on sites like Business Insider, Thought Catalog, and The Washington Post. She has also contributed to national and international publications as well as big travel brand sites such as Expedia, and has shared her expertise at travel conferences such as Traverse and the Brussels Travel Top.
As the blog grew, Sofie brought on other travel writers to share their expertise and in August 2023, Harry Anapliotis took over the active management of Wonderful Wanderings and its channels as the CEO.

What is the mission of Wonderful Wanderings?
The mission of Wonderful Wanderings is to provide practical and detailed travel tips, guides and advice to help people plan their own affordable, confident and adventurous trips. Wonderful Wanderings seeks to make independent travel more accessible and affordable for working professionals by providing practical, detailed travel guides and advice based on real experience. We aim to help people travel in a “better prepared and more confident way” by sharing practical information like attraction guides, detailed itineraries, gear reviews and other actionable advice. The goal is to inspire and enable independent, adventurous travel for people who want to explore the world. All content comes from the our first-hand travel experiences and is focused on being useful and honest.
How we roll?
We don’t care about checking off countries but prefer to visit places multiple times to gather in-depth information. We often return to the same country – and even the same city or region – multiple times to really get to know it and share you more than just the main sights to see.
