I like to test things thoroughly before I review them and I sure took my time with the Thule Subterra 75L. I've been using this Thule rolling duffel for two years now and – spoiler alert – it's still in perfect condition.
I'll tell you more about it in this Thule Subterra review.

Thule Subterra review
Technical specifications
The Thule Subterra wheeled duffel is a rolling duffel bag that comes in different sizes. There's a carry-on model, a 36L-model, and the 75L-model I have.
The Thule Subterra 75L measures 28” x 16” x 14” or 35 x 40 x 70 cm. Thule has long been known for the tough construction of their roof racks and bike carriers and this duffel bag is just as tough and ready to go.
The 800D nylon fabric is weather-resistant and made to last. For comfort, Thule added a telescopic handle that is just the right height and well-made, strong wheels that are perfect for traveling, whether it is over cobblestones or asphalt.
The top, side, and bottom grab handles of this Thule suitcase make it easy to pick up and put into your trunk or on the airport baggage belt.
The suitcase doesn't come with locks, but the zippers are lockable. I usually just tie them shut so they won't open when being roughly handled by the lugage people at the airport.
Actual performance
This Thule Subterra bag may look smaller than a big hard suitcase, but with a volume of 75L, it packs a lot. If you're a light packer like I am, the two main compartments easily pack two weeks worth of clothing as well as an extra pair of shoes.
The inside straps on one compartment and zippered net over the other compartment help things from staying where they are and especially the zippered net compartment is great to use with packing cubes.
Even fully loaded this Thule roller bag is easily maneuvered thanks to the oversized wheels and telescoping handle. The telescoping handle has release buttons on both sides, which makes it great for anyone, no matter which hand you use it with.
The many straps around the bag allow you to cinch it down to ensure even further that everything stays right in place and they also allow you to make the bag only as big as it needs to be.
The top, side, and bottom grab handles make it convenient to pick up the Thule Subterra, whether that's to put it in the trunk of your car or to lift it up from the luggage belt.
This Thule duffel also includes a piggyback strap attachment loop where you can hook another bag on but I have to say I never use this feature.
Compartments and layout
In the Thule Subterra, the two main compartments make it simple to organize and keep your items separated as needed. They open all the way to allow you to pack in a more organized way and the inside is covered in a bright nylon fabric, which allows for easy viewing of your belongings.
While there are no smaller compartments in these larger areas, there is a small zip-up compartment at the top of the bag near the handle that is the right size for keys, gum, or smaller items, as well as a built-in ID card slot, but it is not big enough for electronics.
Weight
The Subterra weighs a little over 9 pounds or 4.1 kilograms, which is quite light for a piece of luggage this size.
Wheels
The Thule Subterra has two durable, oversized wheels that allow for fluid towing over almost any surface.
Durability
Thule has long been known for its durable and high-quality bike racks and luggage racks, and their luggage lives up to that reputation. The Subterra features a long-lasting exoskeleton and hard polycarbonate bottom shell that absorbs some of the bumps and impact of travel.
The 800D nylon material is water-resistant to ensure that your belongings are safe even during a snow or rainstorm and the oversized, well-made wheels will get you where you need to be smoothly and easily.
The telescoping handle is made of V-tubing for extra strength and durability for ease of movement for years to come.
I've taken this bag on many trips already and it's still in perfect condition.
Style factor
One of the best things about the Thule Subterra is its style. It has a durable, water-resistant fabric that covers the duffle and it is available in two colors – dark shadow and mineral.
The classic styling makes it great for both men and women and it wouldn’t look out of place on a business trip or a safari. It is just a good-looking piece of Thule rolling luggage that anyone would be proud to have.
Warranty
Thule’s manufacturer’s warranty will repair or replace your bag at no charge if there is an issue with the materials or workmanship within 30 days. If it cannot be repaired, Thule will replace, refund, or credit the customer to allow them to receive a new Thule luggage product.
Conditions to this warranty apply.
The verdict
As I've said, I've used my Thule Subterra on many trips before writing this review to make sure I knew how it would perform and keep performing in different conditions. So far, it's still in a perfect state.
The zippers are sturdy, the wheels are strong, and the fabric can handle a bump or a fall.
If you need a bigger, durable suitcase that's still light and easy to handle, the Thule Subterra is it.
