Where is the Wrocław Christmas Market?

The Wrocław Christmas Market fills the Market Square (Rynek), the medieval square at the centre of Wrocław’s Old Town, around the Gothic Old Town Hall. It is one of the largest market squares in Poland, and the stalls spread from it into the surrounding streets. The 4 market areas are listed below.

The Gothic Old Town Hall on Wrocław's Market Square, the centre of the Wrocław Christmas Market

  1. Market Square (Rynek). All four sides of the square carry stalls, around the Old Town Hall.
  2. Świdnicka Street. Świdnicka Street carries stalls from the square to the pedestrian underpass and on towards the Opera.
  3. Oławska Street. Oławska Street carries stalls from the square to Szewska Street.
  4. Salt Square (Plac Solny). Salt Square, just off the south-west corner of the Rynek, is the fourth area.

The square is paved with historic cobbles that are uneven in places, and the organiser installs ramps and accessible table areas for wheelchair users; its interactive stall map on pojawi.pl shows where they are.

What is there to see at the Wrocław Christmas Market?

The Wrocław Christmas Market is known for its decorated wooden huts, a Fairy-tale Forest (Bajkowy Lasek) and the city’s bronze dwarfs, which turn up across the market. The highlights are listed below.

How do you get to the Wrocław Christmas Market?

You reach the Wrocław Christmas Market on foot or by tram, because the Market Square sits in the pedestrianised centre of the Old Town. The routes into Wrocław are listed below.

  1. By air. Wrocław Airport is 10 km (6.2 mi) south-west of the centre and has flights from budget carriers.
  2. By train. Wrocław Główny is Poland’s busiest railway station by passenger numbers; trains run to Kraków roughly every hour and to Warsaw in about 3.5 hours.

Can you combine Wrocław with the Kraków Christmas Market?

You can combine Wrocław with the Kraków Christmas Market by train, because the two cities are linked by trains roughly every hour. Kraków’s market on the Main Market Square opens on Friday 27 November 2026 and runs into early January 2027, so from late November both markets are open at the same time. Read our guide to the Kraków Christmas Market for its dates, its nativity scene contest and its food.

Are there other Christmas markets in Wrocław?

Wrocław has 2 more Christmas markets in 2026, both run by a different organiser from the Market Square fair. They are listed below.

For both areas, compare hotels in Wrocław on Booking.com as soon as your dates are fixed.

WonderfulWanderings Pro Tips

The 4 tips below come from the organiser’s 2026 opening hours and the city’s own event calendar, and each one changes when you go.

  1. Do not plan a visit for 24 or 25 December. The market closes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2026, and Christmas Eve has been a public holiday and shop-closure day in Poland since 2025; see our guide to Polish holiday dates.
  2. Be on the Rynek on 6 December. Saint Nicholas Day is when the city lights its Christmas tree and Santa Claus arrives for the children.
  3. Use the first week of January. The market runs until 7 January 2027, so a trip on 2 to 7 January still catches it, but it is shut on 1 January.
  4. Shop for gifts before 17:00 on New Year’s Eve. The craft huts close at 17:00 on 31 December 2026, while the food and drink stalls stay open until 02:00.
